Community Union Defence League is a not-for-profit organisation. Our priority is to build mutual aid networks around Australia where working people can help other struggling working people by developing essential programs that will help families and individuals being crushed by an unfair system designed for the rich.

We are now at an exciting stage where everything is happening, and we need motivated volunteers to support our development.

About the role: As a relatively new organisation here in Australia, securing donations, grants and sponsorships from governments, local businesses or larger companies is a crucial step for our growth. For this reason, we are looking for a highly motived and resilient volunteer ready to knock on the door, literally or virtually to every government/business/community group in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and elsewhere in Australia! This is a volunteer position.We expect that in order to fulfill the role properly it will require 8 to 12 hours a week of time. This time can be spread out according to the Volunteers requested schedule included there will be a 60 minutes check in per week.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Research and identify potential donors/sponsors

  • Develop fundraising plans to carry out and for other volunteers to carry out.

  • Approach potential donors/sponsors, pitch CUDL and its programs, and make asks

  • Build and maintain a database to keep track of fundraising activities

  • Create and maintain relationships with our supporter base

  • Be the voice of CUDL, attending meetings with our sponsors and networking events to create and maintain relationships

  • Answer fundraising enquiries

  • Help other volunteers by contributing fundraising content to our media

  • Report to the executive of CUDL about your work via its Secretary

  • Train other volunteers and run them through fundraising strategy

  • An energetic and enthusiastic personality

  • Outstanding listening and negotiation skills

  • Communicate confidently and effectively (through oral and written form)

  • Ability to work independently and autonomously

  • Some skills in the use of social media
